Eagle Nebula - Pillars of Creation
Home to one of the most iconic images in astronomy, and somehow even better in your own data.

The Pillars of Creation sit at the heart of this active stellar nursery, 7,000 light-years away in Serpens. Those towering columns of hydrogen gas are incubators - dense enough to shield pockets of collapsing material from the radiation blasting out of the young star cluster embedded within. The same radiation that’s slowly eroding them is also the reason they glow. It’s a race between creation and destruction playing out over millions of years.
